The special involves that Ladybug and Cat Noir face in an ultimate battle between Hawk Moth and ChloƩ, who is akumatized as Miracle Queen.

Marinette helps Adrien and Kagami escape a ceremony organized by the Bourgeois couple for their 20 years of marriage. The 3 friends have fun until Marinette, seeing Adrien and Kagami together, decides to leave them alone, sacrificing her feelings for the one she's always loved.
But during this time, the Bourgeois anniversary turns sour and the couple gets akumatized.
Now Heart Hunter, a floating head with two faces constantly fighting each other, they devour all love in Paris.
Overpowered by this powerful villain, Ladybug seeks the help of Master Fu. But still upset about her love sacrifice, she makes a mistake that will prove disastrous...[2]

- Internationally, both episodes first premiered in Ukraine on PlusPlus.
- The first part was originally titled as "Loveater (Battle of the Miraculous - Part 1)" before changing to the current episode's title.
- During the Japan Expo 2018 panel on July 9, 2018, SĆ©bastien Thibaudeau revealed that the 78th episode had moved the team to tears. He hoped it would have the same effect on the audience.[5][6]
- Excluding the New York special, this is the last episode (chronologically) that the Ladybug transformation theme that has been used since "Stormy Weather", with a new theme being used from "Truth" onwards.
