Moonlight Hunters[1] (formerly known as Knight Five[2][3] and Half Night[4]) is a planned live-action/CGI hybrid television series under the ZAG Heroez label. It is to be a co-production between Zagtoon and Nexus Factory.

As of 2022, it's unknown if production has been greenlighted yet.

Synopsis[]

Set in London, the English-language skein turns on five high school friends who make a discovery on Halloween night that gives them the power to turn into a vampire, ghost, werewolf, creature, and witch, and protect the British capital from evil forces.[2]

Development history[]

The television series was first announced and featured at the 2012 Annecy Animation Film Festival. Back then, it went under the name Knight Five. During the film festival, Jeremy Zag revealed to Variety that the series is going to be "similar to Buffy the Vampire Slayer but with a kids' twist." He was also already "in advanced talks with multiple broadcasters" for the project at the festival. As revealed in a Variety article, Knight Five was going to have a budget of ā‚¬8 million ($10.1 million), and the series is said to be "lense in Paris and Belgium and be co-produced by Sylvain Goldbergā€™s Nexus Factory".[2]

In 2013, the project was renamed Moonlight Hunters and was featured on the official ZAG website. However, it lacks a page explaining the project's synopsis.[1]

On November 16, 2015, Jeremy Zag revealed concept art for two of the five main characters in the series. As confirmed in the caption, the project's name was changed to Half Night.[4]

On September 25, 2017, Jeremy Zag shared another concept art on Instagram. He also revealed that the project was retitled back to Knight Five.[3]

On September 25, 2019, it was confirmed that the project was once again renamed Moonlight Hunters. Jeremy Zag shared a concept art for the series on his Instagram, implying that it was still in development.[5]
