Melody is the titular main protagonist of the upcoming feature film Melody. She is an American young adult from the countryside who travels to New York City to learn how to love herself and overcome her insecurity to defeat her former pop idol Rose Stellar.
Appearance[]
Based on the latest character model created for the film, Melody has long strawberry-blonde hair with rose gold highlights. She also has blue eyes.[1]
Personality[]
Melody is a "kindhearted, insecure yet prodigious singer".[2] She is said to be a dreamer with a passion for music, "but she doesn't believe in her voice [nor] see herself as star material".[3]
Abilities[]
Melody can play guitar and has a beautiful singing voice.
Some concept art depicted Melody with the ability to create magic whenever she's singing with the music notes.
Trivia[]
- Melody is the first main protagonist whose film isn't based on an existing ZAG brand. While Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie is the first feature film released by ZAG Animation Studios, it is a film adaptation of the Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir TV series.
- Before the film's production, Melody went through different hair colors during development. She was originally going to be blonde and then bubblegum pink. Eventually, her hair would be depicted as strawberry blonde as a compromise.
- Melody shares the same name as Melodie, a character who was going to appear in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. Despite Melody originally having blonde hair in early development and both girls having music motifs in their designs, they are separate characters.
- Melody is inspired by Snow White from the titular German fairy tale.[4]
- Some concept art depicted Melody transformed into a bird, presumably by Rose Stellar. However, because the concept art was created from 2015 to 2016, it's unknown if her bird transformation would be kept in the final version.
