Characters[]
Rapunzel[]
- Main article: Rapunzel
Rapunzel is the central protagonist of the series. She is a princess who will travel across the kingdom to recruit a team of heroes to stop the mysterious knight from freeing a terrible adversary from the Magic Mirror. She is based on the titular character from the German fairy tale of the same name.
Mysterious Knight[]
This character is a mysterious knight who serves as the main antagonist of the series. His main goal is to free a terrible adversary from the Magic Mirror prison so they can take over the kingdom. His identity is currently unknown.
Production[]
The project began development in 2015.[1] Its first public announcement was on July 8, 2016, when Jeremy Zag posted a concept art on his Instagram.[3] Later on August 3, 2016, he revealed the project is a television series called Tales of Feryon. According to his Instagram post, the series is going to have thirty-nine 22-minute episodes and an animated feature film. The series was also planned to be released in 2018.[4] On mid-September 2016, the official ZAG website was updated to include Tales of Feryon as one of the company's featured brand.[5]
From 2017 to 2022, Jeremy Zag would post concept art and information about the series on his Instagram. In April 2017, the official "release date timeline" from the official ZAG website revealed that the slated release year for Tales of Feryon was pushed back to 2020.[6] On November 26, 2017, he revealed there are plans for books published for the series since it has a fairy tale theme.[7] During the Las Vegas Licensing Expo 2018, a poster of Rapunzel was featured at the event.[8] On October 3, 2017, Jeremy Zag revealed that series creator Nathanaƫl Bronn would serve as the director for the animated feature film.[9] Bronn also posted two concept art for the series on his Instagram during development on December 2020 and February 2021.[10][11]
On May 22, 2022, Nathanaƫl Bronn announced on his Instagram that the series had officially begun production after seven years of development.[12] The project's title is also renamed to Fairyon. During MIPCOM 2022, ZAG sought "exclusive and non-exclusive [subscription video on demand] and [advertising-based video on demand] distribution deals" for the series.[13]
Trivia[]
- Because the series started production on May 22, 2022, it's likely the series would premiere in either 2024 or 2025.
- Fairyon is the first product of ZAG Stream, a streaming content division of ZAG Entertainment, that was founded on September 20, 2022. This implies the series would be available exclusively on streaming services.[13]
- The first season is going to contain anthology episodes. This means each episode would feature a different story and a new character. However, Jeremy Zag also mentioned that the final episode of the season would have the characters unite.[14]
- The characters in the series are based on classic fairy tale characters, which Jeremy Zag described as "the ancestors of superheroes".[15]
- On December 6th, 2020, during a virtual panel for Comic Con Experience (CCXP), it's revealed that there's going to be a crossover TV movie between Fairyon and Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir. The TV movie is going to be a part of the Miraculous World series.[17]
- As mentioned on the official ZAG website in 2022, the origins of the Miraculouses occurred in this series.
- The official Miraculous Adventures comic book series revealed a different origin story of the magical jewels. However, because the comic book series takes place in a separate universe, this hinted that Fairyon takes place in the same universe as the Miraculous Ladybug TV series.
- As mentioned on the official ZAG website in 2022, the origins of the Miraculouses occurred in this series.
