You always do everything your father tells you to do?

—Félix Fathom to Adrien Agreste, "Félix"

Félix Fathom[5] (formerly known as Félix Graham de Vanily) is the maternal cousin of Adrien Agreste, the son of Amelie Graham de Vanily and the nephew of Emilie Agreste and Gabriel Agreste, He is first introduced in Season 3 in the episode of the same name.[6]

In "Gabriel Agreste", when he is convinced that Gabriel Agreste is Shadow Moth, Félix is nearly akumatized. However, the akumatization fails as Félix rejects it and manages to escape.

In "Strikeback", while disguising as his cousin Adrien, Félix is temporarily given the Dog Miraculous from Ladybug which when is inhabited by Barkk, allows him to transform into the superhero Flairmidable. After being able to capture Ladybug's yo-yo using the power of Fetch, Flairmidable trades all of the miraculouses in the yo-yo including Dog Miraculous and his uncle's ring for the Peacock Miraculous, thus becoming Duusu's new owner.

In "Emotion", Félix returns to Paris and, wanting to get rid of everyone in the city all while ensuring what he thinks is the happiness to those he cares about, he uses the Peacock Miraculous which, with Duusu inhabiting it, allows him to turn into Argos, a peacock-themed Miraculous holder. He uses his anger/hate to create Red Moon, a moon sentimonster that allows him to destroy and bring back anyone he wants with a snap of his fingers.

Appearance[]

Physical appearance[]

Félix is tall with blond, combed-down hair and bright green eyes. He is borderline identical to his cousin Adrien. The only noticeable differences are their clothes and the different ways they style their hair.

Civilian attire[]

He wears a light gray, long-sleeved dress shirt with a black neck tie underneath a dark gray vest, dark gray dress pants, and black dress shoes.

As Flairmidable[]

Given that his appearance is similar to Cat Noir's, Flairmidable has messy hair which, unlike Cat Noir's, doesn't cover his ears. His outfit consists of an orange suit with white on his torso and arms and dark-grey parts on his shoulders and legs. His weapon, a ball, hangs on and white boots with dark grey outsoles. He also wears orange and white dog ears and a mask consisting of the same colours to cover his face. When transformed, the collar necklace becomes like it normally does when Miss Hound transforms.

Personality[]

Similar to Gabriel, Félix changed when his father passed away, meaning he wasn't always mischievous. Félix is complete opposite of his twin cousin. Unlike Adrien who is kind and gentle, Félix is rude, sneaky, and according to Ladybug, very pushy, especially when it comes to getting what he desires, even being willing to negotiate with Hawk Moth and put others in danger. Adrien, as Cat Noir, says to him, "I bet you don't have a lot of friends, acting the way you do", implying that, Félix doesn't get along well with others because of his mischievous. Despite these negative traits, Félix is shown to genuinely care for his family, as seen that he has a strong love for his mother, and steals Graham de Vanily ring to satisfy her.

In "Gabriel Agreste", he doesn't change much, except he becomes a heroic figure and determined that Gabriel was Shadow Moth and threatens to expose him. In "Risk", it seems that he has became much more heroic, less villainous and somewhat rebellious. He is also very stubborn, as seen that upon seeing Adrien's message about his cousin telling him to stop (saying he's on his way), Félix disregards and deletes the message, and continues his act. However, he is understandably horrified when he found that his aunt was in a comatose state and hidden in Gabriel's bunker.

Felix is perhaps best categorized by sneakiness, selfishness and a lack of culpability or concern for others as long as he gets what he wants. These traits become exacerbated when he becomes Flarirmidible, and he explains to Ladybug that the newfound power she's given him makes him feel invincible. His actions in offering an alliance with Hawk Moth in exchange for the twin rings and willingly giving out all but two active Miraculouses to his evil-intentioned uncle in exchange for the Peacock Miraculous indicates that he is not above nor has any hesitance or remorse in committing criminal acts or endangering innocent lives if it will advance his agenda.

Abilities[]

As Félix[]

Félix is a master of magic tricks and a skilled pickpocket. He is also good at basketball, being able to score a basket while facing away from the hoop.

According to Adrien, he is also skilled in martial arts. This was seen when he was able to fight with three akumatized supervillains (Lady Wifi, Princess Fragrance and Reflekta) simultaneously, as well as when he easily kicked Lady Wifi's tablet right out of her hand.

Félix demonstrates ingenuity and psychological flexibility as he tends to come up with creative solutions and resist external pressure.

In "Risk", Félix returns to Paris with various high-tech devices to expose his uncle, such as a jammer to disable security cameras and open safes. His most used item is an eyepiece, resembling a monocle, with a red lens; it is capable of x-ray vision and detecting hidden details on objects, such as fingerprints.

As Flairmidable[]

Flairmidable has enhanced physical characteristics such as speed, strength and agility. He also has the superpower Fetch, allowing him to use his ball to track any object he had tagged with it beforehand and then teleport it to him once the ball touches it.

Relationships[]

Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir[]

Félix and Adrien were very close during childhood. However, as seen in "Félix", their bond seems to be much weaker and it is revealed that Adrien did not attend Félix father's funeral because his father refused to let him. In the same episode, Félix takes Adrien's phone, dresses like his doppelganger, and impersonates him while insulting his friends. This is what leads to Alya, Juleka, and Rose's Akumatizations. Félix then claims to feel remorseful and apologizes to Adrien, calling him "his favorite cousin" and stating he's "really lucky to have him".

Félix might harbor some kind of jealousy towards Adrien as he was surrounded by friends while Félix was alone. He also called him an idiot.

In "Risk", he pretends to care much for his cousin. Upon seeing his unhappy cousin and Lila Rossi from TV in London, Félix leaves his home to go to Paris and dresses up as Adrien to sneak into Agreste mansion to get his cousin "out of this mess". Adrien is less happy to see his cousin, who greets him friendly. When Adrien asks the reason, Félix explains that he left London so he can go to the Paris to get him out of this mess, but Adrien bluntly tells him he's fine. Félix sternly tells him to stop doing what his father tells him to do, but Adrien refuses to disobey his father like that (although Adrien defied him few times). Félix offers him to dress up as him, while he dresses as Adrien to keep him out of this, and Adrien reluctantly agrees, believing that this is the only chance for him to be free from his father's control and to do whatever he wants. As soon as Adrien leaves the house, Félix uses his chance to impersonate Adrien, steal the (fake) Miraculouses and even discover Shadow Moth's secret lair.

Gabriel Agreste[]

Félix has been fooling his uncle and aunt since he and Adrien were kids as they are noticeably similar. Like Gabriel, Félix has also lost a person he loves and cares about: his father. Nevertheless, his relationship with Gabriel is explicitly strained and complicated. In "Félix", after arriving at the Agreste mansion with his mother, Félix attempts to greet his uncle with a handshake, but Gabriel doesn't move his hands. When Félix reaches for another handshake the same day just before departing, Gabriel reciprocates, unaware that Félix uses this as an opportunity to steal his ring. Right before Félix returns to London with his mother, he smiles deviously out the train window since he managed to fool his uncle.

Félix shows visible mistrust of Gabriel and goes on to become aware of his villain identity. In “Gabriel Agreste”, Félix gets suspicious of his uncle and listens in on his conversation with Nathalie. When he sneaks around in Gabriel's atelier, he comes across his uncle’s sentimonster. He accuses Gabriel's sentimonster of being Shadow Moth and is threatened by him, which almost leads to Félix's akumatization. Luckily, he manages to reject the akuma and rips the cuff of sentimonster's pants before running off. Félix then secretly keeps watch on his uncle and witnesses his pants unscathed, confirming his suspicions that Gabriel Agreste is Shadow Moth.

In "Risk", Félix is shown to have a visible disregard towards his uncle, as seen he dresses up as his son and pretends to be like him. When Adrien left the mansion, Félix is left alone and wearing a binoculars, Félix goes to his atelier, where he finds Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous. Smiling in satisfaction that his suspicions of Gabriel being Shadow Moth is true, Félix suddenly finds some buttons at his aunt's picture, and when he pushes them, it accidentally sends him to an unknown repository, where, to his shock, horror and disbelief, he finds his aunt in the glass coffin. Shocked, Félix returns to atelier, where he was confronted by his uncle and Nathalie, who are surprised to see him here and mistook him for Adrien, unaware that it was Félix. Acting as Adrien, Félix tells Gabriel that he will not go to this trip, but when Gabriel angrily lashes out at him, saying that he is his father and he will do whatever he tells him to do, he couldn't finish the last sentence upon hearing what he just said, but was saddened to say it and remains silent with Nathalie telling "Adrien" (Félix) that it's time to go, and Félix obeys.

In "Strikeback", Félix while wearing the Dog Miraculous as Flairmidable confronts his uncle and makes a bargain with him: Gabriel will give him the Peacock Miraculous and in exchange he’ll use his superpower to give him all the other miraculous from Ladybug’s Yo-yo and the other ring. If he doesn’t, he’ll tell Adrien about the secret code on the Painting of his aunt Emilie and advises him to make his choice as time is running out. When questioned about how he’ll know he won’t try to use the Peacock Miraculous against him, Félix states that if he wanted to harm Gabriel, he would’ve already done so a long time ago. Eventually Gabriel yields and trades the Peacock Miraculous for the ring. Félix holds his end of the bargain and uses Fetch to give him Ladybug’s Yo-yo, the portal to the miraculous and gives him the Dog Miraculous too. Félix leaves giving a menacing stare to his uncle unnoticed knowing he got what he wanted.

Amelie Graham de Vanily[]

Félix has a strong bond with his mother, as he cares and loves her a lot. He would do anything to make her happy; in "Félix", he even goes as far as to team up with Hawk Moth or steal to get her one of the Graham de Vanily Twin Rings that she wanted. It is later revealed at the end of the episode that she only wanted the ring to give it to Félix, which indicates her deep love for him, too.

In "Gabriel Agreste", he gets defensive when the Gabriel sentimonster remarks that on how upset his mother would be if he makes him disappear.

Emilie Agreste[]

Félix has been fooling his uncle and aunt since he and Adrien were kids as they are noticeably similar.

In "Gabriel Agreste", Félix seems to care for his aunt as he is seen smiling at her portrait in his uncle's atelier. In "Risk", Félix becomes shocked when he discovers his aunt in the glass coffin when he was taken to the repository during his investigation of his uncle's secret identity as Shadow Moth. Shocked and flabbergasted by this discovery, Félix retreats to his uncle's atelier, where he was confronted by his uncle and Nathalie while under a guise of his cousin.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug[]

Félix and Marinette have never met each other personally, but Félix dislikes Marinette, discarding her declaration of love to Adrien and deleting it along with everyone else's video messages to Adrien.

As Ladybug, they are both on bad terms with each other. While Félix is pretending to be Adrien and tries to kiss her, she quickly notices something is wrong and attacks him out of self-defense. He is not afraid of her, however, since, as seen in "Félix", he is confident in winning the battle against her and Cat Noir.

Chloé Bourgeois[]

Félix knows Chloé as a friend of his cousin, always taking the opportunity to express his displeasure of her as he's always found her irritating to be around. Félix thinks of her as a 'brat', which he calls her in a video he sends back to Adrien's friends while pretending to be Adrien.

As seen in "Gabriel Agreste", the two still have a strained relationship. In their brief interaction in this episode, when Félix visits the Agreste mansion for a celebration, Chloé insults him by calling him 'the fake Adrien'. Félix gets back at Chloé, however, by fooling her into believing that he really is Adrien, commenting that she's 'just as foolish as ever'.

Kagami Tsurugi[]

Their relationship is currently unknown, but in the "episode of Gabriel Agreste", when they're in Adrien's room, Félix and Kagami glare at each other coldly, showing their strained relationship.

Duusu[]

In "Multiplication", when Félix wears the Peacock Miraculous, he meets Dusuu, who asks him if he's the new owner. Félix ambiguously answers that he's way more than being Duusu's owner.

Trivia[]

  • Félix was the original name of the Cat Noir character in the PV, who was later replaced by Adrien.[7][8][9]
    • This character was discarded as Thomas Astruc believed Félix was not purposeful to the series, as he came off as an anime cliché[10], and no one was convinced his dynamic with Ladybug as a couple of heroes to be appropriate.[11]
    • For a while, Thomas considered bringing Félix back at some point[12], but since then, he did not have intentions to use him, eventually outright stating that PV Félix will never appear.[13]
  • Despite the fact that Félix as Cat Noir was scrapped, his design and name were reused to create Félix Graham De Vanily, Adrien's cousin.[5][7][8][9] The most notable differences between the two are PV Félix's eye color being steely grey instead of green and his hair being combed in the opposite direction.
  • Félix's name was inspired by the Latin word for happy/lucky.[14]
  • So far, Félix is the 2nd person after Lila Rossi, other than Plagg, to know about Adrien's crush on Ladybug.
  • He is the 3rd person to resist akumatization, following Chloé and Alya.
  • He's the 2nd person after Nathalie Sancoeur, other than Nooroo, Duusu, and Bunnyx, who finds out about Gabriel's identity as Hawk Moth/Shadow Moth.
  • Félix having the Dog Miraculous and Adrien the Cat Miraculous symbolize their counterpart dynamic with Cats and Dogs often being considered opposites.
    • Interestingly, both boys possess traits of the other's Miraculous animal, as Félix is shown to be solitary and self-centered (traits associated to cats), while Adrien is faithful and loves being with his friends (traits associated to dogs).
  • Félix is the first occasional superhero to not return a Miraculous after a mission,
    • the third not wanting to return the Miraculous (after Alya Césaire and Chloé Bourgeois), and
    • the second to use it for selfish reasons (after Chloé Bourgeois).
  • Flairmidable is the first named Miraculous holder whose superhero name isn't a direct reference to his Miraculous' animal.
    • Instead, his name is a combination of "Flair" (meaning style, poise or finesse) and "Formidable" (meaning great, talented or mighty).
  • Thanks to Félix, Gabriel has access to almost all the Miraculous in the Chinese Miracle Box.
